10oz AYMYDUCK GUNMAKU is a 10oz ARMYDUCK used by the U.S. military for tents. The weft has been changed from cotton to modacrylic fiber (Kanecaron® Protex®) for improved flame retardant performance.
In addition, the surface is coated with the same processing technology used for the Japanese Self-Defense Forces' tent (flame-retardant pigment coating process).
Water resistance, light resistance, and flame retardancy are improved by adding a flame retardant.
Water resistance: approx. 1000 mm
Light shielding 99.998%.
Flame retardant: CPAI84, the flame retardant standard for tents in the U.S.
The surface of the coating is hydrophilic, not water-repellent. (The original surface coating was designed for self-defense tents, so it is hydrophilic because the beads of water droplets on the surface that create water repellency cause diffuse reflection and are easily detected from the sky.) Hydrophilic means that the surface is wet, but water penetration is prevented (it is waterproof).
